Deep Purple Looking Good on Nexo GEO D!

In 2008, Deep Purple is still one of the biggest attractions in Mexico City, arriving for a show in La Plaza de Toros on its tour of Latin America. Rental company Tecnoson Espectaculos was able to provide a mighty Nexo GEO D/GEO S system for the arena, with its audience of 15,000 purple fans.

Under direction from Sergio Zenteno, Tecnoson rigged the main PA with 16x GEO D10 with 9x CD18s on each side of stage. A supplementary outfill system made use of 12x GEO S8 modules on each side. Additional GEO S8 cabinets were used, with Alpha E and Em boxes, for side fill and front fill. With the band on in-ear monitors, there were no wedges on stage.

All amplification was by CAMCO Vortex 6 and Vortex 200 models, and the system was controlled by NX242s.

All the classics were played - Pictures of Home, Into the Fire, Strange Kind of Woman, The Battle Rages On, Lazy, Space Truckin’, Highway Star, and, of course, Smoke on the Water. For all you secret Deep Purple fans out there, the line-up these days is Ian Gillan, Steve Morse, Roger Glover, Don Airey and Ian Paice.
