Camco in Dubai for Kylie

In Dubai, Protec has just increased its inventory of CAMCO amplifiers for use with JBL Vertec and NEXO GEO line array systems. Already the biggest user of CAMCO Vortex in the Middle East, Protec has ordered another 24 Vortex 6 units for use on Kylie Minogue’s massive outdoor show in November.

Protec is the largest supplier of sound, lighting, audio-visual, hydraulic and motor control equipment in the region, with an investment of over 50 Million Dirhams in the latest state-of-the-art equipment. The company has used CAMCO for many years now, and Edward Ross, Protec’s head of audio, continues to be a fan.

The new Vortex 6 amplifiers were acquired from local distributor V.V. & Sons, complete with Ethernet modules which enable laptop control and monitoring via the manufacturer’s proprietary CISUS software platform.

One of the primary reasons for Protec’s ongoing investment in the Vortex line is because of the flexibility it gives them in the warehouse and in the service department. “We can swap different amp racks between the different systems, it makes sense in terms of spare parts, and we have our own bench tech who fixes any problems at our warehouse complex. Not only that, but we have always enjoyed excellent service from V.V & Sons the distributor here in Dubai and direct from Germany.”

This year alone, Protec has had its CAMCO amp racks out on Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Pink and Shakira, but it is preparing itself for Kylie Minogue’s arrival in November, which will require the biggest system ever rigged in the UAE. Her outdoor show at Festival City is expected to sell 20,000 tickets. More than 60 CAMCO amps will power the JBL Vertec system at this event.
