SGM lights up the Colosseum using Wireless technology

A special event for Abruzzo was set inside the Colosseum, allowed under very exceptional circumstances, for this important benefit concert

Tenor Andrea Bocelli, conductor Marcello Rota, the Symphonic Orchestra of Abruzzo and one of the most fascinating locations in the capital: the concert held in Rome on 25 May was set inside the Colosseum, allowed under very exceptional circumstances, for this important benefit concert.

The lighting was created to exploit the charm of one of the best known monuments in the world.
To create an unforgettable backdrop to the performance, it was necessary to use techniques that were compatible with the strict technical restrictions in place to protect this historical site.
Using SGM Giotto Spot 1500 and Giotto Beam 1500 moving head projectors with Wireless control, lighting designer Nicola-Manuel Tallino set up an unobtrusive lighting system without the need for wires and cables, which were expressly forbidden in these circumstances.
The lighting system was chosen to enhance certain architectural features: 24 Giotto Spots 1500, in groups of 6 (1 Master and 5 Slaves), lit up the lower parts Wirelessly, alternating in warm and cool pastel colours; 12 Giotto Beams 1500, controlled individually by one Wireless transmitter, were positioned along the perimeter of the arena, producing the backlighting behind the stage area.

The Wireless DMX signal, transmitted by the controller to the transmitter antennae, worked to perfection for the entire duration of the concert.
Respecting all conservation standards fully, the SGM projectors, supplied by Agorà, ensured that the audience and those watching live on Eurovision enjoyed a spectacular lighting display, adapted especially for the setting.
