TARGET MODES IN MOVING ASSEMBLIES OF PLEATED LOUDSPEAKER

In this work Beyma will present the process followed for the adjustment of a numerical model in finite elements of the mechanical behaviour of a pleated loudspeaker, based on the AMT technology (Air Motion Transformer).

In this type of transducers, the diaphragm is formed by longitudinal folds. In the internal face of each one of these folds is printed a conductive ribbon.

Beyma has obtained firstly the participation factors and the generalized mass from the results of a natural vibration modal analysis.

Next, an analysis is realized taking into account the loss factors of the materials, followed by a forced vibration modal analysis.

Finally, a method is described for the characterization of the materials (Young Modulus and Loss Factor), by using modal analysis techniques.

This year Beyma has been nominated for the Plasa Awards 2009, with one of our their last
products the 21SW1600Nd. It was the only transducer nominated and displayed at the Awards
Gallery of this tradeshow. This nomination was achieved thanks to the HELICEX® technology incorporated in this 21” Sub. This new 21” features rates of power compression losses that are
lower than those in similar models available in the market. This is a great advantage in those
applications that normally require this kind of loudspeaker, where the working cycle are very
exigent and the performance of the system must remain very high.
