SGM - UK launch of new range at PLASA Focus

SGM, the long-established Italian lighting company, has chosen PLASA Focus in Leeds (April 27-28) as its major UK launch showcase — following a rapturous reception to its new range at last month’s Pro Light+Sound in Frankfurt.

At the same time they will present the team behind their new UK office, and introduce the personnel who will be selling, marketing, servicing and offering technical support following the company’s merger with RCF SpA.

Leading the operation is UK Director of Sales Phil Price, supported by product specialist Greg Oliver and highly experienced service manager, Maria Jenkins.

Said Price, "It was fundamental to have a professional support infrastructure in place, giving clients the opportunity to discuss purchases directly with the company and have direct contact with in-house specialist technical staff. While goods will be shipped direct from our European warehouse the UK office will hold a full set of spare parts." He added that in addition to warranty coverage of all SGM products, items no longer under guarantee will also be fully supported.

At PLASA Focus visitors will be exposed to a suite of five new products.

PALCO FULL COLOR: Adopting the same footprint as the other models in the Palco range, Palco Full Color uses Rebel LED, a light source with a new concept and a maximum performance of 80 lumens to provide an extraordinarily powerful wash and create scenarios with an effectiveness and quality of illumination rarely seen.



The fixture has been designed to accommodate 105 LED’s in a matrix of 35 lenses, each with a power of 9 Watts, enabling a total brightness of 5,500 lumens (RGB) —12,000 lumens (WA) — to be output.

RIBALTA FULL COLOR: Thanks to its unusual horizontal design this uniquely-profiled LED colour-changer will diffuse uniform light, maintaining a consistent level of intensity and even light coverage. It allows large areas, such as walls, theatre and television backdrops — as well as architectural features in general — to be colour-washed with its expressive light beams.



Ribalta Full Color uses Rebel LED, the new concept in light sources with a maximum efficiency of 100 Lumens/Watt, that guarantees perfectly blended colours and produces a uniform beam, with no coloured shadows.

The fixture contains 165 LED’s in a matrix of 55 lenses, each with a power of 9 Watts, enabling a total brightness of 8,500 lumens to be obtained. The fixture also uses a brand-new colour mixing system, which enables the red, blue and green Rebel LED to be mixed within a single lens, thus occupying a minimum space.

STILO LED: Also shown for the first time in Frankfurt, this innovative LED colour-changer has been carefully designed and manufactured to illuminate locations requiring discreet systems, with particularly low visual impact, yet requiring maximum light efficiency.
To accomplish this SGM have designed a slim, elongated and ultra-light fixture, occupying an extremely small footprint. As a result Stilo LED guarantees an intense luminous coverage for large surfaces, thanks to the in-line format of its 12 LEDs.



Extraordinarily versatile, and available in a full-colour version, with IP67 or IP20 rating, Stilo LED can easily adapt from the creative illumination of outdoor environments (such as architectural elements or buildings) to that of backdrops for theatre and television shows, thanks to its ample variety of interchangeable lenses.

IDEA 300: Turning to moving heads, SGM will show a family of products with different beam apertures under the ‘Idea’ banner — giving them the capabilities of delivering high powered profile and wash lighting with superior colour mix.
Idea Spot 300 performs well above its weight, with features such as electronic ballast, which ensures the fixture runs flicker-free; linear zoom, which enables instant adjustment of the light beam from 16° to 35°; CMY colour mixing system, and seven interchangeable gobos and effects wheel.
Idea Beam 300 is a wireless DMX system which incorporates a 300W lamp for a very narrow, highly concentrated light beam. The beam can be coloured and shaped by applying the vast range of effects provided: CMY colour mixing system; colour wheel with eight colours plus white, eight rotary indexable and customisable gobos and rotary three-facet prism.

Idea Wash 300 projects a perfectly even wash beam even at short distances. Fitted with a colour wheel with eight dichroic filters, beam shaper and CMY colour mixing system, it also features as electronic ballast, which ensures a flicker-free light beam, and wireless DMX interface, which increases the application possibilities of a fixture that is already easy to handle, and light weight.

GIOTTO SPOT 700: The latest (and final) fixture in SGM’s popular Giotto range, Giotto Spot 700 offers two types of interchangeable 700 Watt lamps with automatic fast restrike — to ensure a luminous output rarely seen on a 700W fixture.

Giotto Spot 700 offers CYM colour mixing, to create an unlimited quantity of colours and different shades, Linear CTO, two wheels with rotating interchangeable gobos (each with eight slots plus white), a 6-colour plus white colour wheel and an easily changeable animation wheel.
