Outline Butterfly systems have again been chosen for sound reinforcement in the 90,000 square metres of Padua’s square

Once again, Outline Butterfly systems – recently used at the Turin 2006 Olympic Games - have again been chosen for sound reinforcement in the 90,000 square metres of Europe’s largest square (Prato della Valle - Padua), on the occasion of “Successo Italiano 2006”, the annual maxi-concert staged by broadcaster Radio Italia solomusicaitaliana and Video Italia, one of the world’s most important and widely distributed satellite TV channels.

The event, at its 7th edition, is followed each year by an average of 120,000 people, who crowd the wonderful scenario of Prato della Valle; as well as having caught the interest of Mediaset and RAI, it was broadcast live on the terrestrial and satellite frequencies of Radio Italia, Video Italia and Video Italia (Sky, channel 712), covering all of Italy and the majority of the planet.

This year’s cast featured some of Italy’s top names, including i Pooh, Gianna Nannini, Povia, Nomadi, Dolcenera, Luca Dirisio, Alex Britti, Gianluca Grignani, Sugarfree, Simona Bencini, Niccolò Fabi, Anna Tatangelo, Gigi Finizio, Nicky Nicolai, L’Aura, Simone Cristicchi, Riccardo Fogli, Francesco Baccini, Riccardo Maffoni, Simone and Studio 3.

The Outline Butterfly line-arrays, supplied by JD Service of Padua and Deejay Service of Rende, the audio rental firms for the event, were installed with the support of Outline of Brescia. A total of 16+16 Hi-Pack CDH 483 were used as FOH systems, while 4+4 Hi-Packs were stage-mounted on ‘front-fill’ duty. 12+12 ground-stacked Victor Live subwoofers reproduced the bottom end and, on the large stage, four HARD 212 SP were used as main monitors for the artists, four HARD 115 SP for the drummers and keyboard players and 4+4 Tripla II on ‘side-fill’ chores. The entire set-up was powered by just thirty Outline ‘ultra-slim’ (1 rack unit) T6.5 amplifiers and processed by an Outline Genius 26 and two Lake Contour units, controlled via tablet PC.

Mario Volanti, chairman and editor of the Radio Italia Group commented: “It’s a pleasure for us to work with a company as competent as Outline. We chose this firm for the fourth time, out of seven editions of “Successo Italiano”, as it’s a guarantee of quality and perfect sound for a marvellous setting such as Prato della Valle”.
